As former winemaster of Joseph Phelps Vineyards in the Napa Valley, Walter Schug crafted the legendary Insignia and Eisele Vineyard Cabernets of the the 1970's and early 1980's, as well as America's first Syrah. He founded his own label in 1980 to produce elegant Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays from the cool-climate Careneros region. Limited bottlings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc round out the portfolio.
