Two museums grace the lovely wooded grounds abutting acres of conservation land in Acton, MA.  The Children's Discovery Museum, housed in an historic Victorian mansion, provides hands-on experiences for young children to learn through play. The Science Discovery Museum, located in three-story modern building, offers interactive experiences in the sciences and math for children age 6 through teens.  You may have driven by the museums, been amused by the big green dinosaur sporting seasonal attire, and wondered what was inside.  Here is an great introduction to the museums for a family of four.
