Jonas has been a part of Asphalt Green since he first joined the AGUA team in 1998. Jonas was a four-year letter winner on Carnegie Mellon University's swim team, a UAA conference champion and NCAA All-American in the 1,650-yard freestyle his senior year.

During his fifth year at Carnegie Mellon, Jonas served as an assistant coach for the men's and women's swim team and helped coordinate a Masters program. He joined AGUA Masters as a swimmer in 2011 and began coaching as an assistant before being appointed Head Coach in January 2013.
