Before dedicating his life to serving others as a physical therapist, Augie's dad toiled in wildlife exploration, small arms "procurement", and big game hunting. However, living on the edge began taking an emotional toll, witnessing first-hand the destruction of sensitive rainforest and wetland habitats in Africa and Southeast Asia sometimes, admittedly, by his own hands. Upon returning to San Francisco (and finally turning his back on a former life) he decided to use his considerable array of wildlife tracking and orienteering talents to benefit wildlife conservation; blazing trails, living among the coyotes, and finding new avian species for the National Audubon Society. Believe it or not this all happens in the Presidio.
