Donations of P. Buckley Moss art have raised over four million dollars for charities, including many devoted to teaching children with learning disabilities.  The incorporation of Amish and Mennonite elements in the artist's work stems from her family's time living in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where she came to appreciate and know the deeply religious Amish and Mennonite "plain" people.
