Description

"Lines, lines and more lines"

Medium: acrylic on wood board

Demention: 2 by 2 foot square

Process: using masking tape as their main linear tool, the children, in groups of 4, manipulated the tape by sticking it all across their 2 foot square wood board in different ways, creating  a design. The first layer of paint was then applied over the tape. When the paint dryed, the kids peeled the tape off revealing different shapes. This was the first of 3 separate layers using a different color each time. The kids were exploring how negative space can truly be the strength of the whole composition. Their favorate part was to see what it would look like after peeling away the layers of tape each time creating new layers and adding more and more shapes. This was a fun way of exploring the use of color, composition, and spacial structure.
