After moderate summer temperatures in 1999, a glorious Indian summer put the final touches of maturity on a fine harvest. The 1999 Opus One offers aromas of cassis, cloves, and roasted almonds against a creamy texture of soft tannins and round, rich fruit. Long-lived and concentrated, the wine shows flavors of plum, cherry and black pepper against a silky finish.

Petit Verdot 1%

We craft a wine that will reward your patience with long cellaring, but will still provide great pleasure in its youth. If you enjoy the complexity and delicacy of mature wine, Opus One may successfully age for twenty years or longer past its vintage date (assuming properly controlled storage). If you prefer younger, fruitier wine, you may enjoy Opus One upon its release, three years after harvest. Most wine lovers best appreciate our wine from eight to fifteen years past the vintage date — but the only imperative is to maximize your own enjoyment.
