Our History
Casting for Recovery was founded in 1996 in Manchester, Vermont, by a breast cancer reconstructive surgeon and a professional fly fisher. Over the past 18 years it has garnered endorsements from medical and psychosocial experts for its innovative healing program model and has received extensive national media coverage. While other breast cancer programs pursue research, Casting for Recovery, knowing that survivors have few resources to address the medical and emotional issues they face, focuses on recovery, offering healing retreats that provide powerful tools to help women live full lives after a breast cancer diagnosis.
