Description
Attend our Live Event to bid on a full sized tree donated by Soroptimist International of The Sierras to benefit various service projects in our community.
Frosty & Friends: Snowmen come in all shapes and sizes, which you can see by the friendly, smiling faces adorning our tree this year. Each one is unique and together with bright twinkling lights they will brighten your home with Christmas cheer. Added to them for extra holiday glamour is red berry garland, white glittery branches, and beautiful clear ornaments with snowmen peeking out from within. Nothing says Christmas like freshly fallen snowflakes blanketing the ground while Frost and Friends make their way to your house!
Our Mission Statement:
"As members of Soroptimist International of The Sierras, we are committed to the well being of women and children in our community and the world"
Soroptimist International of The Sierras will use the proceeds of their tree towards several major service projects: Domestic Violence programs, and other community service projects which include but nor limited to: Community Living Center, Fresno Flats Historical Park, Oakhurst Community Center, the Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst, Women’s Opportunity Award, Scholarships for Yosemite High School students, and Citizenship & Academic improvement awards for graduating 8th grade students.
The first Soroptimist club was formed in 1921 by a group of 80 women in Oakland, California. They chose their name from two Latin words meaning "best for women." Membership provides an enriching environment for women to develop friendships and to support each other, while experiencing the satisfaction of their collective efforts to improve communities. These women, who represent leaders across all professional disciplines, also serve as role models for younger women at the beginning of their careers. A Soroptimist is a leader in her community. She believes that by joining with other women and engaging in awareness, advocacy and action in the service of her community and society, she can make the world a better place for humankind.
