Description
Danny Cox Where I Belong CD/DVD Danny's first studio album (if you can call it that) in a long darn time is a very nice piece of work - original songs by Danny, one song featuring his son Joe on lead vocals, and a great seat-of-your-pants pick-up band, has all of Danny's big voice and spirit, captured in one great afternoon at the Pilgrim Chapel in Kansas City, engineered and mixed by Rainmaker Bob Walkenhorst. The songs cover the wide scope of Danny's styles and talents. The opening song "Shady Grove" is straight up American folk music. "What About Me?" "Unconditional Love" and "Little Boy" show a thoughtful, poetic, and sometimes darker side of Danny's writing, not often heard in his live shows. "Why Do We Treat These Haitians So?", "Young and Armed and Dangerous", and the hilariously scary "Dick Cheney" are great political commentary. But it always comes back to the voice - Danny Cox is one of the best singers - anywhere. Age has added subtlety and character to his voice, but the range and the power is still there in full force.
Bonus DVD - "Danny Cox Up Close and Personal" - a short film by Dr. Ben Meade
