The Santa Lucia Highlands have proven to be one of the elite appellations for Pinot Noir. The terrior of this high altitude enclave in Monterey brings bold expression and full flavors to Pinot. For this wine, James McPhail of Sequana sourced the grapes from the single Saramento Vineyard. To be more specific, from two separate 10 year old vineyard blocks - each with a unique clone. This family-owned, sustainably-farmed vineyard benefits from its southeast exposure and its ancient, tilted alluvial soils topped with rock-studded sandy loam. This wine scored 92 points in Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "Lush and opulent, this shows complex flavors of cherry compote, raspberry jam, date and exotic spice. Thoroughly dry on the finish, this drinks well right now. It offers a delicacy that’s some times missing in Santa Lucia Pinot Noirs."

Displaying the classic qualities of the Santa Lucia Highlands, this silky Pinot Noir has earthy aromas and flavors of dried cranberry, strawberry rhubarb and sour Bing cherry. The wine is medium- to full-bodied, lush and rich.
