Colorado Wilderness Cabin for Two Weeks

Item Number: 239
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Get away from it all for two weeks at 9,100 feet on the back of Mount Princeton and facing Mount Antero in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness, about 3 hours drive from the Denver airport. Enjoy some of the best fishing in Colorado right out the front door as the cabin is at the confluence of Grouse Creek and Chalk Creek. Raft on the Arkansas River at the foot of the canyon. Drive for 5 minutes to hot springs including natural rock Jacuzzis for adults and a football-field length waterslide for the kids. Drive a bit further for horseback riding, antiquing, or the ghost town of St. Elmo, the most intact old mining town in the state, where rascal chipmunks will nibble sunflower seeds out of your kids’ hands.
The cabin has a stone front porch and a side screen porch, a small but manageable kitchen, an indoor toilet and an outhouse, and an outdoor shower. The cabin is grandfathered into the boundaries of the San Isabel National Forest so nothing will ever be built within hearing range. No cell phone reception, no television, though there is a land line for emergencies (and dial-up connection if you insist).
Special Instructions
Cabin comfortably sleeps six adults. Up to 10 kids could easily sleep on pads on the screened-in porch. Available any two weeks in June or August 2014, the last two weeks of July, or the first two weeks of September. Please note that this item is available to the Cathedral community only.
