Description

This piece produced by “Manifattura ceramic Artistica Flavia” for Gruppo Colorobbia of Montelupo Fiorentino, is an accurate reproduction of an original of the middle of the seventeen century.  This ceramic plate was produced  in 1996 and is # 8 of a limited edition of 50 plates.  It is in its original box and includes a certificate of authenticity from the Museo Montelupo. This plate belongs to the series of the so-called “Arlecchini” (Harlequins) of Montelupo.  These are mojolica-wares decorated with figures representing characters drawn from the everyday life of the XVII century.  The name “Arlecchino” intends to underline the bright polycromy and liveliness of the picture.  Their production is typical of Montelupo’s workshop and examples of this typology can be found in the main collections of ancient ceramic all around the world.
