Hakata dolls originate in Fukuoka prefecture in Japan.  It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to finish a piece depending on the size of the doll and how meticulous the designs are. This doll was designed and made by an excellent Hakata Doll Artist.  The lady in Kimono is playing a Japanese traditional instrument “Tsuzumi” (a small drum.)
