Description

Has your child been accepted to the University of Maryland?  This service is a great gift.  Kathryn Hopps, Student Enrichment Administrator in the College of Behavioral and Social Science (and Springbrook parent), is offering an hour of her time to advise an incoming student on searching for, landing and even earning academic credit for internships in a variety of fields.  Your child will learn:

*What internships are available on campus?

*What internships are available within an easy commute?

*What internships have students enjoyed the most?

*What skills are most important to employers of recent college graduates?

*When may your student earn academic credit for an intenship and what are the pros and cons of this?

*What services are available from the University Career Center?

*Who coordinates internships within a particular major?

*What internships are available overseas as part of an education abroad program or on one's own during the summer?

*How should a student use the web, faculty, staff and acquaintances to help with their internship and job search?

*What internships are most likely to be paid?

The service is available in the Hopps-Telhami Hillandale home or White Oak library on a weekend.  Your child should bring their laptop. Help your child learn about the skills they need to acquire for life after college by bidding today!
