Cape Ann Street Scene by Gloucester Artist, Ruth Hagstrom
Ruth C. Hagstrm died in March of 2007 at the age of one hundred. She was a native of Gloucester, She lived in the same house for ninety-five of her hundred years. She studied with Elliot O'Hara in Ft. Lauderdale, and Edgar Whitney, in Maine. She attended the Massachusetts School of Art (now the Massachusetts College of Art), She taught Art at Kendall Hall, what is now known as Endicott College. She taught portraiture in her home for 30 years.
Special Instructions
This is a watercolor painting which is signed by the artist but is not dated. No notation of street scene but it is more than likely Rockport where she painted and lived. Provenance is the estate of Dorothy Primm who was also a well-known Cape Ann painter who died about 5 years ago.
