Every day, rain or shine, volunteers within Shadow Cats and those within the community feed scores of cats- every single day.  It is heartwarming to see cats who have no resources, no safety net other than what we strive to give them- eating regulary and not reproducing.

Can you help our volunteers and individuals in the community continue this work?  For $25 dollars we can feed a small colony of cats for an two weeks (a little more than ten dollars per week).

Hungry kits to be fed

Huntress on her own

She freezes, patiently waiting

Stealth in the Shadows

She is silently providing

Hurrying now, her kittens to return

Mewing softly, hush babies now

Silence is golden, this too you will learn

Settling down, kits to be fed

Mama’s here, quietly watching

Tucked in this brushy bed

Safe for now, this family

Tomorrow’s an unknown

No assurances to be

So once again, Feral Cat alone

Cycle continues

Baby now with kits of her own

Years go by

Too many born

Some live, some die

But change is in the air

TNR is now the norm I hear

Grassroots effort from hearts who care

But what’s that I now see?

My babes in a cage

What a travesty!

Its not to be

Though I call them to come

They are trapped, unable to flee

Maternal instinct pushes me on

Deeper into the confines

Trapped! Something’s gone wrong!

She walks to us, calm and quiet

Gently carries us all away

My babies, now out of sight

Days go by, something happened, not sure what

But my nature calls to the Wild

I need to be free, my life can’t be untaught

My babies will grow up loved and in a home

But for me

I am Feral- walking alone.
