Special Instructions

Birds' Nest Orphanage is located in Byblos, Lebanon and has been home to thousands of children of the Armenian Community in the Middle East region for more than 80 years. Birds' Nest Orphanage was founded by Maria Jacobson, who was known by Armenians throughout the world as MAMA.  Today, Birds' Nest operates under the auspices of the Catholicosate of Cilicia and His Holiness Aram I. The institution provides boarding and education, spiritual guidance, and encouragement to help build self sufficiency in preparation for life and integration into society.  The orphanage is open to all children who come from broken families and are in need of care and compassion.  There are currently 37 children housed at Birds' Nest, ranging in age from 6 months to 17 years old.
