Photo #7 - Warm Hearth, by Larisa Katsanova

Description
This dream of going home - a truly unattainable dream for most of the Warm Hearth residents - comes up in twice-weekly group therapy sessions conducted by a psychologist. Many residents are adults, and they have been at Warm Hearth for years. Yet every session, all of the residents express the hope that they can return to their families - a sister, uncle, or grandparent, because all of them are orphaned.
Special Instructions
LARISA KATSANOVA, age 44, is a photographer and curator who has helped establish the Harutyunyan Galentz museum in his home in Yerevan, Armenia. She says this photography project goes well with the memory of Galentz, who was himself an orphan from the Armenian genocide, and who grew up in an orphanage. She and her husband, Galent’s son, Saro, also a painter, are continuing to work with residents at Warm Hearth.
