Description

Bid on this rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you and a guest to have an intimate view of the universe and take part in scientific exploration on July 20, 2014. Walden parent and astrophysicist Daniel Stern will provide a private, behind-the-scenes tour of Palomar Observatory's control room and facilities. Watch the sun set (and rise!) over this historic site, an experience rarely, if ever, available to the general public. With Daniel, you will be studying distant black holes found by NASA's WISE and NuSTAR satellites, and partake in scientific observations at the so-called "Big Eye", the Hale 200-inch telescope which is prized by astronomers worldwide. Family-style dinner and lodging are included at the site's comfortable dorms for one night.

This unique experience will likely never be available to you again. This is, quite literally, a stellar opportunity of a lifetime!

This is a Live Event Item.

Special Instructions

This experience will only be offered on Sunday, July 20, 2014. Winner and guest will provide their own transportation to the location, which is approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Pasadena.

Auction Items will be available for pickup in the Walden Community Room on May 21, 2014 and May 22, 2014 from 3:00PM - 6:00PM. If you can not pick up your auction item at that time and require shipping, additional charges will be applied.
