Haven Pizzeria is a cozy, New-Haven-style pizza restaurant on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. Striving for perfection, they tried hundreds of recipes, experimented with every dough imaginable, and visited famous pizzerias--and then experimented some more. Until one day, they had that ‘a-ha!’ moment, and knew then and there that the best pizza would come from an old Italian bread oven, fueled by coal, cooked at high temps for a thin, but soft crust with just the right char.
