I am a physical therapist with 20 years experience. I completed my Masters in Physical Therapy and started practicing traditional Physical Therapy. After my first year of practice, I realized that I needed more education. I completed a Masters in Orthopedic Manual Therapy which taught me how to improve the mobility of the muscles and the joints so pain can be relieved. Once the soft tissue and joint mobility have normalized, it is important to do specific exercises to maintain the mobility. My second Masters degree was very valuable but I still felt there was something missing in my education. I started studying Craniosacral and Viseral Mobilization.
Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch manual therapy that does many things. It helps relax the nervous system so the body can relax and heal; it helps improve circulation to dissipate inflammatory processes, and can enhance your immune system. Finally, it can help the body release past trauma, both physical an psychological. Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate the negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. Craniosacral can help this with:
Migraines and Headaches
Acute and Chronic Pain
Motor-Coordination Impairments
Stress and Tension-related Problems
Chronic Fatigue
Scoliosis
Emotional Difficulties
Temporomandibular joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Digestive Issues
Sensory Issues
Chronic Ear Infections
Viseral Mobilization is a manual technique that restores mobility to your organs. With the toxicity and stress of our world, our organs can be tired. This doesn't mean that our organs are failing. It means that they are overworked so they don't move optimally in our systems. Because our organs are connected from front to back with connective tissue, when they are tired, the connective tissue tightens. When the connective tissue tightens, people can suffer from back pain, neck pain, abdominal pain or digestive disorders for which medical testing cannot find a cause. I use a combination of Craniosacral Therapy, Viseral Mobilization, Soft Tissue Mobilization, and Joint mobilization for all conditions.
To complement the manual techniques, I provide nutritional consultation so the results achieved with the manual techniques last. If your diet isn't optimal, you are living in an acidic environment. When your body is acidic, you have a higher chance of acquiring and maintaining inflammatory processes. Proper diet will change your system from acid to alkaline and all of a sudden your pain and/or digestive distress will resolve!
Finally, I am a certified Pilates instructor. If Pilates is an exercise you enjoy, I can design an appropriate exercise program for your condition. Proper exercise is crucial to healing. My goal is to treat your system so it can heal. With this process in place, you will be able to perform exercise you enjoy instead of exercise you have to do to heal your condition.
Sincerely,
Christy Sanger MSPT, MOMT, CST, CNC
