Our Cause and Inspiration
Nepal is a land of unmatched beauty and a warm, gracious people. It is one of Asia’s poorest countries, where tea workers earn dollars a day. At Nepali Tea Traders, our mission is two-fold: to work with our Nepali partners to market this remarkable tea in the U.S. and with each sale, to contribute to the Nepal Youth Foundation to improve health and education for children in need. Even as we’re building our new business, we plan to make cash contributions. So every time you enjoy a cup of this remarkable tea, you are helping improve lives.

Nepal Youth Foundation
The Nepal Youth Foundation (NYF) brings hope to Nepal’s most impoverished children by providing health, shelter and education. The organization was founded by Olga Murray when she traveled to Nepal in 1984 and observed local children struggling to study by lantern. Today, major projects include a full scholarship program that takes recipients from kindergarten through medical school, two small children's homes, 14 hospitals for malnourished children, and a program to abolish child slavery in Nepal. Based in San Francisco with offices and multiple programs in Nepal, NYF earned its sixth consecutive 4-star rating, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator for efficient use of donations. Only 3% of charities earn six consecutive 4-star ratings.
Our donations go a long way in Nepal. Just $10 provides educational materials and books to a student for a year. $25 provides school uniforms, shoes and school bags. $100 can rescue a girl from servitude and send her to school.
