Since it’s opening in 1983, Dee’s Restaurant has served the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Dee Kang, the owner, is a Korean-born Chinese. Starting with her mom and dad’s small restaurant in their home in Korea, Dee was born into a family destined to be master restaurateurs.
After travelling to Japan at a very young age to earn money for her family, Dee later migrated to the US to follow in the footsteps of her oldest brother. Learning under his watchful eye, Dee learned the restaurant business at his critically acclaimed restaurant on the North Shore. Starting as a busgirl, Dee worked at her brother’s restaurant, a Japanese Steak House, as a waitress at a Chinese restaurant and as a manager as well as a waitress at her brother-in-law’s restaurant before opening Dee’s Mandarin & Sushi Lounge.
