Dial Press New York, 1997. From book jacket: When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man one December day in 1955, she made history. At that time there were laws that kept black and white Americans apart from each other on buses and in many other places. But because of Mrs. Parks's brave act, the black people of Montgomery, Alabama, joined together to stay off the buses of the city--until the unfair laws were changed.

Here is Rosa Parks's own story of her life. She tells of her childhood in a small town, and how she always wanted fair treatment for everyone, even when she was young. As a grown-up she worked very hard to help black people win their rights. This courageous woman helped to start the civil rights movement, and her book is exciting and inspiring.

Hardcover with dust jacket.
