HOW WILL MY CHILD LEARN?

• Your child will learn grammar and vocabulary through context.


• He/She will learn Spanish in a way that will allow him/her to use the language in real life.


• Your child will learn by complete immersion and by studying with a native Spanish speaker.


• Little or no translation provided. Although on the first day of class I will speak to the children about the NO-ENGLISH RULE! in English, your child will be expected to communicate with me and with the other children in Spanish only.


• A strong emphasis will be placed on self-correction and peer-correction.


• Lessons always include pair or group work activities.

The curriculum is complemented by “Great Works for Kids,” a cultural enrichment unit I have developed from many of my lectures on literature and culture at UCLA and Cal State Fullerton and adapted for children. The unit includes presentations, discussions, and activities surrounding the work of important writers and artists from the Spanish-speaking world such as Miguel de Cervantes, Frida Kahlo, and Pablo Picasso, among others.
