This beautiful collaborative Chalkboard, created by the Green Mallard children, was inspired by an art lesson on drawing during their Air Theme Unit Study. The children’s interest in air transportation, animals that fly, and celestial bodies was sparked by many lessons.

This collaborative chalkboard project began with an art lesson that taught the children that shapes are all around us and if they observe and examine things carefully, they will find lots of shapes. The children learned that they can use these found shapes to help them draw and create everything, even items they see in the sky. Each child chose what they wanted to draw for the chalkboard and placed it on the chalkboard. This project helped the children develop self-confidence in their drawing abilities, and also encouraged teamwork with its collaborative nature.
