This beautiful collaborative Chalkboard, created by the Yellow Parrot children, was inspired by an art lesson on drawing during their Things That Grow Theme Unit Study.  The children’s interest in animals, plants, and people was sparked by many lessons.

This collaborative chalkboard project began with an art lesson that taught the children that shapes are all around us and if they observe and examine things carefully, they will find lots of shapes. The children learned that they can use these found shapes to help them draw and create everything, even things that grow. Each child drew several pictures and than decided which one they wanted to use for the chalkboard. This project helped the children develop self-confidence in their drawing abilities, and encouraged teamwork with its collaborative nature.
