Itinerary

DAY 1: Depart USA

Depart from New York (JFK) or Washington, DC (IAD) for South Africa to begin your cultural odyssey. 

DAY 2: Arrive in South Africa

Arrive in Cape Town via Johannesburg. Check in at the 4.5-star the Vineyard Hotel & Spa.  With over 200 years of history within its walls, this deluxe hotel is situated on six acres of parkland along the banks of the Liesbeek River. Located in the lush suburb of Newlands, the hotel is within easy walking distance of the Cavendish Shopping Centre, and just 10 minutes from the city center and the popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.  The Vineyard Hotel & Spa boasts two outstanding restaurants, two swimming pools (one outdoor and one heated indoor), a fitness Center, and the Angsana Spa, operated by the world renowned Banyan Tree Group.

DAYS 3 through 5: Cape Town

Cape Town is dominated by a towering, table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys, where two oceans converge - Indian and Atlantic.

Enjoy free time to explore Cape Town on your own. Visit the famous Cape Peninsula, hike or take a cable car to the top of Table Mountain, explore Robben Island (site of Nelson Mandela’s former prison cell) or meet locals in townships, churches and lively ‘shebeens’.  

DAY 6: Depart Cape Town, Arrive at Kapama Private Game Reserve

Depart the Cape on a flight to Johannesburg with a connecting flight to Hoedspruit.  Transfer to your reserved camp in Kapama Private Game Reserve.

Check in at the 4-star Kapama River Lodge, into a spacious air-conditioned suite with modern yet distinctly African furnishings, log-beam ceilings, and private balcony.  Enjoy the large rim-flow swimming pool adjacent to a long L-shaped relaxation lounge and bar under thatched cover with huge double-sided fireplaces on either side.

Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive, which takes you into the thrilling night to view the more elusive nocturnal species.

DAYS 7 & 8: Kapama Private Game Reserve

Two full days in the Kapama Private Game Reserve allow for morning and evening game drives conducted in open safari vehicles by experienced game rangers, and the opportunity to pass through the bush on escorted walks.  Observe the wildlife while enjoying lavish comfort, traditional cuisine and local culture at your safari camp. 

The Kapama Game Reserve covers 27,170 acres of big game territory near the town of Hoedspruit and is in close proximity of the Orpen Gate to the Kruger National Park.  A wide variety of game such as rhino, hippo, buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, antelope, zebra and giraffe and an abundance of bird life can be seen at leisure, either from open-safari vehicles or on guided walking trails.

DAY 9: Depart South Africa

A final morning to enjoy breakfast and a game drive before returning via air to Johannesburg to board your international flight.

DAY 10: Arrive USA

Package excludes meals not indicated, gratuities, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and airport departure taxes.

South African Airways - This package includes round-trip coach class airfare for two from New York (JFK) or Washington, DC (IAD) to South Africa, as well as all domestic airfare within South Africa. Flights may not be upgraded with miles. Airfare will expire one year from the date of purchase. Fuel surcharges and air taxes are included.  Any additional airport departure taxes or fees (if charged) are the responsibility of the purchaser.
