Rising red canyons and stunning rock formations provide the backdrop for Moab’s The Other Half, a point-to-point half marathon run each fall in Moab, Utah. The race starts at the historic Dewey Bridge near milepost 30 of Highway 128, and follows the highway as it parallels the Colorado River down to the Sorrell River Ranch Resort. At the finish find post-race refreshments, free beer for runners from the Moab Brewery, one of Utah’s outstanding microbreweries.
The course is run entirely on traffic-free, paved roads and features gorgeous views of the surrounding terrain, including prominent landmarks Fisher Towers, Castle Rock, and the La Sal Mountains. Starting at an elevation of 4100 ft, the first seven miles of the course feature gentle rolling hills and a gradual incline. At mile 8, the gradual incline turns into a steep half-mile climb to a high point of 4300 ft, followed by a fast half-mile descent. Miles 9-12 have a few short rolling hills and mile 13 is a fast downhill to the finish.
