Description

Joan Hawley is a West Newton Resident and Elementary School Tutor

Additional information about Joan:

She primarily tutors elementary students in math and language arts. However, students have continued with her through middle and high school and expanded to other subjects. She taught K-8 in the Walpole public schools for 31 years beginning as a reading specialist and then taught 4th and 5th grade. She has a BA from Syracuse and a Masters in Education from Harvard. She has tutored since 2008 including multiple students from Franklin.

From Joan: I think that the individualized coaching I provide serves to motivate students and helps them feel more confident with their schoolwork. I know that my former parents were so satisfied they recommended me for the students I have now.

Plenty of references available upon request. Joan prefers to meet students at The Newton Public Library for tutoring but would consider going to a student's home.
