Description
What if you were 1,000 times smaller and were the size of an ant? Walking down the hall would take days! What if you shrank down another 1,000 times and became the size of a cell, crawling up an ant's leg? Moving just a couple of millimeters would take hours! Now, imagine if you were 1,000 times smaller than the cell and you could see everything the cell is made of. You are now in the world of nanotechnology! Interested in learning more? Come and tour the world-renowned, cutting-edge Therapeutic Micro and Nanotechnology Lab led by Nueva mom Professor Tejal Desai. She will show you how her bioengineering team is developing new medicines and helping people regrow parts of their organs. From developing a nanoporous biocapsule, to slow release medicine, to designing a material that can be injected after a heart attack to improve healing, you will go inside the clean room to have your try at building tiny structures—structures so small that if you put one on top of a speck of dust, it would look like you had put it in the middle of an entire football stadium! If you have an interest in bio-nanotechnology or just want to learn more, this tour is for you!
