Fernandes Lumber Inc. is a family owned home center and Ace Hardware dealer that has been in operation since 1958. It was started by Manuel Fernandes and his wife Minnie. He gave up a profitable building career which included new homes as well as most of the Mobil service stations throughtout Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. "It was a struggle at first and a lot of hard work. You hard to put your heart and soul into it and we did. All my children worked here, especially on Saturdays." Today, the family is still actively involved. Manuel's daughter, Diana, handles the accounts payable. Manuel's son Kenneth and his son-in-law Thomas Farrell serve as co managers/owners.
