Description

On October 15, 2008, St. Croix was swept by the eye wall of Hurricane Omar with 15 foot wave heights. Omar’s destruction included the Christiansted boardwalk, the sinking of 47 boats, broke 400 ships free from their anchors and dumped 7 inches of rain in a 24 hour period. Omar also destroyed over 100 utility polls, leaving many of the 55,000 residents without power.  As Cruzans do, they recovered from the storm stronger and better ready to face whatever comes their way!
