Description
Embracing San Francisco is a photographic collection of seven images brought to fruition through the unique passions of the Stuart Hall High School Photography Elective. Led by their instructor, Francisco Teixeira, students created this work.
Curious to explore this unique world of photography in the pitch black of night, students dedicated their time investigating this fascinating subgenre with three night shoots over the course of the academic year. All images were shot using a digital camera. The particular characteristics of shooting at night under extremely low –light conditions require that our students shoot exclusively using manual settings, therefore intentionally control every aspect of the photographic environment.
Images were photographed using a tripod, shutter release cable and flashlights were employed with certain images in order to “paint with light.” As is the case with night photography, exposures varied between 45 seconds and five minutes in length. The results are highly illuminated and markedly saturated images that capture calmness and a dazzling luminosity that is both intense and elegant. The print medium is Fine Art Archival Giclée Prints (16” x 24”) which are mounted onto Foam Core and Back Framed.
