Located on that "other" island, Staten Island Children's Museum offers interactive exhibits and creative workshops which provides opportunities for hands-on experiences. 

Starting with a fun, free ride on the Staten Island ferry, followed by a short hop on the bus, the trip to the Museum is an adventure onto itself.  The Museum has on exhibit The Big Game -- life-sized chess pieces for a rousing and challenging game; giant dominoes, Connect Four and checkers are also available among other familiar children's games.  Your child can build a log cabin, crawl through a human-sized ant hill, explore the rainforest canopy, engage in imaginative play, and climb aboard an authentic 1941 Seagrave fire truck.
