Brought to you by the owners behind Bin No. 220, Keg No. 229 celebrates good ol’ American craft beer—the Narragansetts, the Abitas, and Allagashes you can drink and enjoy not just for their taste, but also for the way they make you look unbearably classy. The bar’s real highlight is the tabletaps in back—the first of their kind in NYC, these taps allow you, the customer, to pour your own draught. It’s a nice, hands-on touch, and yanking back on those taps is enough to give you incredible biceps. The bar offers a menu of comfort food—sloppy joes with tater tots, big-kid alphabet soup, mac ’n cheese, etc. The décor is a kind of gussied up post-industrial: There’s some throw pillows and wallpaper, but there’s also exposed ducts, brick, and cement floors. The prices aren’t nearly as bad as you’d think for something mired in the financial district, and the scene tends to be young neighborhood folk or corporate raiders stopping by for lunch
