Dr. Spetzler and the good folks at the Barrow Neurological Foundation donated this one-of-a-kind gift basket. The basket includes a copy of the book “The Healing Blade: A Tale of Neurosurgery” by Edward Sylvester. The book is an account of Dr. Spetzler and his team's work at the Barrow and has been autographed by Dr. Spetzler.  Also included are a lovely matching necklace and earring set, 2 wine glasses, a beautiful decorative glass wine bottle stopper, and three bottles of wine: 2006 Terra Rosa Mendoza Red, 2008 Belle Vallee Cellars Pinot Gris, and 2011 Angeline Sauvignon Blanc.

Robert F. Spetzler, MD, FACS Director, Barrow Neurological Institute, J. N. Harber Chair of Neurological Surgery Chair, Division of Neurological Surgery, Director, Neurological Research, is a world-renowned neurosurgeon who specializes in cerebrovascular disease and skull base tumors. Dr. Spetzler is neurosurgeon to many Angioma Alliance members and has performed more cavernous angioma surgeries than any surgeon in the world. He has been honored many times by professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. In 1999, Dr. Spetzler received the Herbert Olivecrona Award, considered the Nobel Prize of Neurosurgery. Dr. Spetzler has published more than 300 articles and 180 book chapters in the neuroscience literature.  In February 2007, Dr. Spetzler performed his 5,000th aneurysm procedure.
