Handmade Ceramic Bowl
Mr. Gomez's 2nd Grade Class
Dimensions: 18" diameter, 6 1/2" high
Each student in Mr. Gomez's class outlined their hand on a slab of clay and decorated it using simple clay tools . All the hand shapes were then placed on a bowl shaped form and 'knitted' together, making the bowl both functional and structurally sound.
After the initial firing, black glaze was applied into the crevasses and lines, emphasizing the texture and unique qualities of each hand. Red glaze was applied to the heart shapes, creating a black bowl with white hands and touches of bright red.
