Superman III was released in 1983, and although the film received lukewarm reviews, the soundtrack album art is particulary notable in that the stars of the film, featured in the artwork, both died at a relatively young age, just over a year apart.

In a world of digital downloads, the art of the album cover has been lost. But from the 1950s to the 1980s, album cover art was both a marketing tool and an expression of artistic intent.

The artist's proofs were typically destroyed once the album went to print. However, a few were salvaged and now considered to be collectors items. They are truly one-of-a-kind.
