Acting Classes at Kate's Kids, One 10-week session (ages 9-12)

Item Number: 579
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
For all the age groups I start with a physical and speech warm-up. We do improvisations to get to know one another and get comfortable with each other. We work week by week on one or two skills one must have as an actor, whether it is observation, sense memory, listening, imagination, story-telling, improvisations, movement, trust, emotions, and more.
For the older children, I do improvisations, games, role playing, and scene study. I have hired a co-teacher, Laura Bozzone, to help me with the more advanced acting class so the kids can get more attention and feedback. I have also hired playwright Jonathan Arthur Ashley to teach a playwriting course. I was inspired last spring when I had some non readers in my class and had them draw pictures while my reading kids read scenes. When they were finished reading then the kids who drew pictures would cast their “play” or picture and then they would act it out. I also worked with the older kids on writing a play and they also cast and acted it out. A performance is planned at the end of the session.
