Description

This image, photographed by Dr. Ken Sullins, was taken at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware and is in the collection of the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO. Dr. Sullins is a founding surgeon at Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, VA. Virginia replaced his native West 30 years ago.

In the beginning, the images expanded his articles in popular publications, among which are Nature’s Best Magazine and Gray’s Sporting Journal.  In time, photography eclipsed the writing. Work has been displayed in juried shows locally and across the country.

Dr. Sullins' photography awards include: Windland Smith Rice International Awards, The Center for Fine Art Photography, The Outdoor Writers’ Association of America and the Equine Photographers' Network. He prints all his work on fine art papers or canvas and is partial to large prints because the detail reveals much about the image.

Statement From Dr. Ken Sullins

"I search for the moments that visions move beyond my expectations…when a rock formation becomes a message, or a translucent veil isolates the simplicity of nature.

Music inspires me. Dreaming a Dream to Scarborough Fair to Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain to Bobby McGee, my vision is clarified by resonating subconscious scores. Passion and envy for auditory art drives me to create music for the eye. Inspirational images remind us of our collective roots and expose those roots to those that have yet to meet them.âÂÂA?¨"
