Helen Beamer (1882–1952) was a musician, hula dancer and composer of songs in the Hawaiian language. She was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame in 1995. This book is first and foremost a compilation of the music and lyrics she wrote and was published posthumously in 1991. Along with historical background information for her songs, it includes lovely, older photos of Hawaii including Puuwaawaa, Keawaiki, Puako and Mauka Kona, among many others. This is a special book in good condition that would please any collector.
The condition of this paperback book is good. The front cover is slightly torn and it shows expected general wear and tear. There are 2 inscriptions on the inside cover and on the title page.
