Description

This beautiful example of three dimensional, Japanese art is actually a paddle used in the game hanetsuki, which is similar to badminton. The game is given to a girl on her first New Year's Day. This particular one was made in 1961 and is made of silk kimono fabric and hand-painted. Nowadays these one-of-a-kind, beautiful, textile collages have become highly collectable. It measures approximately 20" long.
