Description
This 2 gallon ohia lehua tree will eventually give beautiful flowers. The question is what color are they going to be? The color for this tree is unknown so it could range from deep scarlet red to orange to yellow. The ohia lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) is a species of flowering evergreen tree in the myrtle family that is endemic to the six largest islands of HawaiE>i. It is a highly variable tree, being 50-80 feet tall in favorable situations, and much smaller when growing in dry or overly wet soils. Many native Hawaiian traditions refer to the tree as sacred to Pele, the volcano goddess, and to Laka, the goddess of hula. Ohia trees grow easily on lava, and are usually the very first plants to grow on new lava flows.
