Hand built one-of-a-kind white clay low fire ceramic tall vase, 12.5" x 6.5" x 6.5", by Northside parent and artist Nanette Loeff Allen.

My work is an exploration of the interaction of common and found objects with clay.  My ceramics present lively rich surfaces that are carved, pressed and patterned. 

These vessels and containers reflect my fascination with the nature of art and architecture. The combination of patterns, textures, playful hidden secrets and layered washes suggest that these pieces might have been unearthed artifacts.

Method and Materials

The combination of washing, burnishing and layering glaze finishes on my pieces allows them to appear as if they have been weathered by the passage of time.
