Hailan Gong studied art at the Shanghai Academy of Arts in China and Tokyo Metropolitan University in Japan. Hailan freed his imagination and fed his creativity with many visits to Europe and the United States. The similarities and contrasts of the world culture that he explored found harmony in his art. His paintings reflect his unique global perspective. 

Hailan's work has been admired and collected b ymuseums, institutions and private art collectors, such as; the Tokyo municipal Art Museum, Milwaukee Ar tMuseum, Zhong NanHai Art Collection, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, The Stradivari Society, former prime minister of Japan Nakasone Yasuhiro and maestro Ruggiero Ricci.
