The Giving Ring: Bidder's Choice of Gold "Columba" or "Origins" Designer Ring

Item Number: 330
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
The successful bidder for this item will have their choice of The Giving Ring's original Columba or the newer Origins ring.
Columba is where The Giving Ring began. In homage to Tibetan artistry and the magic of the stars, it echoes the universal message of peace. The ring features the constellation Columba, a dove, and a lotus flower. It's a beautiful, bold statement ring to be worn for a lifetime.
Origins captures the Japanese view of the circle as representation of infinity and nothingness; everything in the one; the end in the beginning. The eternity band features seven gemstones on the face of the circle and ten gems encircling the outer edge. Seven is the number often associated with victory over hardship and ten, a number of perfect completion.
The Giving Ring weds philanthropy with entrepreneurship. Beginning in 2006 the project engaged fair trade artists from Nepal to produce the rings. Hundreds of purchasers became the benefactors of thousands of people in ten different countries. In the case of the ring donated to the auction the bidder will be supporting the Shambhala Sun Foundation itself.
Company owner Susan Quattrociocchi has emphasized in the past that Giving Ring is not a non-profit. "This is a business that is in the business of supporting others." Of that which inspired The Giving Ring she says "my parents held the firm belief that you take care of people, those you know and those you don't. From the vantage point of the kitchen table they would plot solutions, with little money to spare, keeping the front door and their hearts wide open. Through technology, education and compassion, my generation's kitchen table now encompasses the globe." The Giving Ring is a fine example of conscious livelihood in action and her business is, as a result, based on five pillars: lovingkindness, generosity, appreciation, joyfulness, and respect.
