Established in 1974, the Institute was among the first Tibetan Buddhist centres in the West and remains one of the largest. It is a registered charitable organisation affiliated with the FPMT (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition).

Chenrezig Institute has a range of accommodation options to support study, meditation and reflection. Successful bidders will claim a space in one of the private single rooms. All accommodation is basic but comfortable and beautifully quiet, offering easy access to the Gompa and café.

The Institute is home to a resident Tibetan teacher, a large number of nuns and monks, and a thriving community of students, volunteers and guests. A range of Buddhist and secular programmes are offered on a regular basis. Many guests choose to stay when the programme of events fits their interests.
