Description

The highest bidder for this item will receive one meditation bench, one Warrior mala, and the satisfaction of knowing that their participation has provided the Save a Warrior program for veterans with another five meditation benches.

Nicholas Taylor, founder and manufacturer of FreeMeditationBench.com, inspired by the work of Save a Warrior, wished to contribute to the group's efforts. This bench, finished with a seat made from an Air Force jacket donated by a Save a Warrior graduate, serves as the model for the five benches that will be donated to the program, each representing a different branch of the military.

Save a Warrior is an intensive program based in Malibu California for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. A five and a half day “war detox” called The Project offers a safe and effective community resiliency model for healing trauma. Through the alchemy of ceremony, ritual and spiritual initiation, as well as through the use of their own Warrior Meditation™ technique, equine-assisted learning, challenging ropes courses, and art, Warriors access their own internal adaptive mechanisms, and experience a transformation unlike any other. For many, The Project serves as the ultimate life-changing and life re-affirming experience. More can be learned about their work at saveawarrior.org.

The Warrior Mala in this offering was made by Chris Eder at malaforvets.org, a graduate of the Save a Warrior Program. They are made with Carnelian spacers, Rudraksha, and India wood. Carnelian is a survivor’s stone. Its properties are said to protect the user from negative emotions and reduce energy associated with rage, resentment, and bad temper. It also helps alleviate sorrow and depression and increases physical energy, confidence, assertiveness, appetite, awareness of feelings, emotional warmth, sociability, compassion, individuality, and memory.

At FreeMeditationBench.com, with each bench that he sells, Nicholas releases one into the wilds. Free. And with this auction item, he will be doing even more than that: releasing five benches, one for each branch of the military, to the Save a Warrior program for use in their meditation sessions.
